Bluetongue virus

The spread of Bluetongue virus vectors in the Mediterranean

Culicoides imicola is a small midge that transmits bluetongue virus between domestic livestock.
A preliminary project sampled this species in Morocco and Spain, and a model for these results, based on satellite data,
was then extended to the entire Mediterranean basin.
